Baseball Recap: Saint James Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Saint James had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Grace Academy Knights. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Saints also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Calvin Moss was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moss was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Saint James: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nolan Schlotterbeck was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Andrew Adams also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Saint James kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.

The victory got Saint James back to even at 8-8-1. As for Grace Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Coming up, Saint James will host Maret at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grace Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Heritage Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
