Baseball Recap: Bellevue Takes a Loss

Bellevue was the 2-0 winner over Saint Jo when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-6 on Friday.

Ryan Jones and Blake Reese stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jones scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Reese scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Bellevue is 3-1-1 when Jones posts three or more hits, but 0-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brycen Bancroft, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bellevue has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season. As for Saint Jo, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.

Coming up, Bellevue will challenge Bryson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Saint Jo, they will take on Perrin-Whitt at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
