Basketball Recap: Heritage Find Success

Heritage was handed a 27-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 46-45 win over the Schlarman Hilltoppers. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Schlarman's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Forsyth, who posted 20 points and three steals. The game was Forsyth's third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Izzy Bogen, who earned two points in addition to 17 boards, four steals, and four blocks.

Heritage's record now sits at 21-7. As for Schlarman, their defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Heritage and Villa Grove will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. As for Schlarman, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Salt Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Storm's defense has only allowed 28 points per game this season, so the Hilltoppers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
