Basketball Recap: Belmont Skates Past Somersworth with Ease

Belmont had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Somersworth Toppers 77-29. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Toppers are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belmont's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.4 points. As for Somersworth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Belmont and Somersworth will both be playing Campbell the next time they take the court. Belmont will head out to face Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Somersworth will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
