Basketball Recap: South Hills Takes a Loss

If South Hills was feeling good fresh off their 74-48 takedown of Trimble Tech last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South Hills Scorpions had to suffer through a 82-35 loss at the hands of the Arlington Heights Yellowjackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-39 on January 3rd.

South Hills' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carlos Huckaby, who posted five points, and Jordan Granviel, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points. That's the most points Granviel has posted since back in November of 2024.

Da?Marcus Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arlington Heights, going 9 for 13 en route to 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Dedric Harris was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

South Hills has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which is still a better percentage than their 6-20 record this season. As for Arlington Heights, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-12.

South Hills has already played their next contest (against Wyatt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Arlington Heights will head out to take on Trimble Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arlington Heights is facing Trimble Tech at the right time seeing as Trimble Tech is stuck on a 24-game losing streak.
