Baseball Recap: Sequim Takes a Loss

Sequim extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-5. They came up short against the Orting Cardinals, falling 11-1. The Wolves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Orting, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Orting's part, Johnny Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Turner has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Gabe Schrader looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Orting let Jayden Schoenbachler and Lucas Dickson run wild. Schoenbachler got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Dickson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Dickson has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Coombs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequim will take on Olympic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Orting, they will challenge Clover Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
