Volleyball Recap: Los Amigos Takes a Loss

Los Amigos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Western Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in March.

While Los Amigos was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Western's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-14, 25-17.

Devin Lee paced Los Amigos' offense, picking up 14 kills. Lee got some help from Ruben Gonzalez and his 13 assists. Finally, Andy Phan kept Los Amigos' defense grounded, leading the team with eight blocks.

Byron Miranda produced another solid effort getting 18 digs and two assists for Western. Miranda is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Edgar Martinez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Los Amigos' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Western, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Los Amigos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Loara on the 8th. As for Western, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Saddleback on the 8th.
