Baseball Game Preview: Glenbrook South Titans vs. Deerfield Warriors

For the second straight game, Glenbrook South will face off against Deerfield. The Titans will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Glenbrook South is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Deerfield with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Roger Niedermaier tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Glenbrook South's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Glenbrook South let Anthony Nottage and Clancy Rogers run wild. Nottage went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Nottage a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Ryno, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Glenbrook South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Deerfield's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8. As for Glenbrook South, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
