Basketball Recap: Atlantic Christian's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dayspring Christian Academy, Atlantic Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They strolled past the Gilead Christian Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 53-38. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 229th in New Jersey, while the Eagles are ranked 577th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gianna Flynn was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. She also grabbed eight steals, which is notable because Atlantic Christian is undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 6-12-1 otherwise. Isabell Alford was another key player, putting up ten points and eight steals.

The victory got Atlantic Christian back to even at 12-12-1. As for Gilead Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Atlantic Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cumberland Valley Christian at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Gilead Christian, they and Christian Community will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
