Softball Recap: Dow's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Dow dropped their record down to 10-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Howell Highlanders, falling 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chargers have suffered since April 14th.

As for Howell, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-11-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Howell's part, the result came thanks to Allison Ulanowski's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. Ulanowski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Caldwell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Lavery, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dow will challenge Carman-Ainsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Howell, they will square off against Hartland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
