Baseball Recap: Hiawatha Red Hawks vs. Holton Wildcats
Hiawatha extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-11-1 in the process. They fell 6-3 to the Holton Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-5 on Thursday.
Lucas Lancaster and Karson Henry stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lancaster went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Henry went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That RBI marked the first that Lancaster has brought in this season.
As for Holton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-13-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.
On Holton's side, Cody Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jarett Abel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bartel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
