Football Recap: Quakertown Panthers vs. Souderton Indians

Quakertown was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 win over the Souderton Indians. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

A big part of Quakertown's victory came down to the chemistry between Brady Martin and his top target Aiden Burgy. Martin threw for 363 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt while Burgy picked up 193 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Burgy's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael McCormick, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Another pass catcher making a difference was Elijah Hampton, who picked up 58 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Quakertown's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Souderton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quakertown will square off against Council Rock North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Council Rock North is coming into the matchup with three straight victories at home, so Quakertown will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Souderton, they will venture away from home to square off against Cheltenham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 863 yards in their previous games.
