Basketball Recap: Fleming Island Drops Season-High Score on Westside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fleming Island). They breezed by the Westside Wolverines to the tune of 70-10 on Thursday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Fleming Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Crawford, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 18 points and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Seven Gourdet, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Fleming Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

With the victory, Fleming Island broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8. As for Westside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Oakleaf the next time they take the court. Fleming Island will head out to face Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Westside will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
