Softball Preview: Mt. Pleasant Cardinals vs. Del Mar Dons
The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Del Mar Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Pleasant is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Mt. Pleasant sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Overfelt.
Meanwhile, Del Mar put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over Hill. Considering Del Mar has won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Natalie Dixon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Dixon has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.
