Softball Preview: Mt. Pleasant Cardinals vs. Del Mar Dons

The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Del Mar Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Pleasant is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Mt. Pleasant sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over Overfelt.

Meanwhile, Del Mar put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over Hill. Considering Del Mar has won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Dixon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Dixon has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Dixon was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
