The West Oso Bears will face off against the Mathis Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Oso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

West Oso easily dispatched Aransas Pass on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bears fell just short of Odem by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday.

West Oso saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Taylor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another was Jaime Guerrero, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Mathis started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against George West. They came up short against the Longhorns on Tuesday, falling 14-6. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mathis got a big performance out of Brandon Reed, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Julius Deleon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

West Oso has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Mathis, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

West Oso suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Mathis in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
