Basketball Game Preview: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Warrior Run Defenders

The Minersville Battlin' Miners will challenge the Warrior Run Defenders at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Minersville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.

Minersville heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Catasauqua. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Battlin' Miners came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Rough Riders are ranked 266th).

Minersville might have lost, but man, Dante Carr was a machine: he dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Carr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shazier Bethea, who shot 50% from the field en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Warrior Run didn't have quite enough to beat Troy on Saturday and fell 44-41. The Defenders have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Warrior Run's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Minersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-5.
