Softball Recap: Assumption Wins High-Profile Match Against Madison Central

Assumption faced Madison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rockets never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Rockets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lauren Satterly made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tia Ice, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jordan Goodman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Assumption's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Madison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Coincidentally, Assumption and Madison Central will both be playing West Washington the next time they take the field. The Indians will host the Senators at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Rockets will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
