When Mater Dei meets Bishop Gorman on Friday night, it marks just the seventh time since 2000 the nation's top two teams have met.

7:30 p.m. PST, Fox Sports West), it marks the seventh time since 2000 that high school football's top two ranked teams square off.
Unlike previous No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdowns, we didn't have to wait long for this one. Sept. 1 is the earliest in the season this has ever happened.
Three of the previous games involved California teams while Nevada joins the short list of states to have participated in a 1-2 epic.
