Softball Recap: Floyd County Has No Trouble Against Bassett

Floyd County won the last time they faced Bassett and things went their way on Thursday too. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Bengals with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Buffaloes have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Biesterveld made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Floyd County got a massive performance out of Ava DeJesus, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lilly Gillispie was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Floyd County's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Bassett, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Floyd County will host Patrick County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bassett, they will challenge Magna Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
