Volleyball Recap: North Stanly Takes a Loss + How To Watch

North Stanly was the 3-1 winner over Southwestern Randolph when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Comets fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Stanly took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Southwestern Randolph's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Kathryn Coltrane, who had 14 assists and ten digs. Those ten digs gave Coltrane a new career-high.

North Stanly's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Southwestern Randolph, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

North Stanly will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on September 2. As for Southwestern Randolph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
