Baseball Recap: Redwood Takes a Loss

Redwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Archie Williams on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Peregrine Falcons by a score of 4-3. The Giants were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Peregrine Falcons earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Miles Harrison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Gersch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Redwood has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. Archie Williams' victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redwood will take on San Rafael at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Archie Williams, they will face off against Sonoma Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sonoma Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Archie Williams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
