Basketball Game Preview: Corsica/Stickney Jaguars vs. Gayville-Volin Raiders

Having just played yesterday, the Corsica/Stickney Jaguars will jump right back in to play the Gayville-Volin Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gayville-Volin will be up against a hot Corsica/Stickney team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Corsica/Stickney blew past Jones County 60-40 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Gayville-Volin came tearing into Thursday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Indians 82-30. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Gayville-Volin pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Corsica/Stickney, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Everything came up roses for Corsica/Stickney against Gayville-Volin in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, as the team secured a 60-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corsica/Stickney since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
