Ellicottville extends road winning streak to four

Recap: Ellicottville Eagles vs. Salamanca Warriors

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Ellicottville Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Salamanca with a 47-42 victory. For Ellicottville, this counts as revenge for the 38-33 defeat Salamanca walked away with the last time they faced one another two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Salamanca had strong showings from Bella Wolfe, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds, and Lezly Mccomber, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and three steals. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilene Mccomber, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Ellicottville pushed their record up to 1-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Salamanca, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ellicottville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Pine Valley Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Pine Valley Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Salamanca, they will head out on the road to face off against Olean at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Olean will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Salamanca is ranked 117th).
