Softball Recap: Simsboro Has No Trouble Against Union Parish

Simsboro won the last time they faced Union Parish and things went their way on Wednesday too. Simsboro was the clear victor by a 17-3 margin over Union Parish. Considering the Tigers have won eight games by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kailee Hamilton made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last five matchups. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Jacoya Lewis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ciara Caldwell, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Simsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Simsboro and bumps their season record up to 10-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Union Parish, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Simsboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-2 victory against Weston on the 17th. As for Union Parish, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-3 win against Lincoln Prep on the 13th.
