Preview: Alameda Pirates vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers

Alameda is 0-6 against Wheat Ridge since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Alameda Pirates will stay at home for another game and welcome the Wheat Ridge Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Alameda struggled with assists on Tuesday (Adams City had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Alameda had to suffer through a rough 97-27 loss at the hands of Adams City. Alameda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 61-13.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brian Sanchez, who scored six points. Another player making a difference was Efrain Huerta, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Green Mountain 75-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheat Ridge in their matchups with Green Mountain: they've now lost six in a row.

Alameda's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Wheat Ridge, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Alameda was taken down by Wheat Ridge 80-36 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Alameda, Sam McCune (who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
