The Quincy Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Jacksonville Crimsons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Quincy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Jacksonville will come in with five straight victories.
On Monday, Quincy didn't have quite enough to beat Timberland and fell 3-1.
Quincy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Lawson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Springfield as they made off with an 8-0 win.
Anderson Decker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Nolan Peters was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Jacksonville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-14. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-17.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Quincy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Quincy skirted past Jacksonville 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
