Softball Preview: Circleville Tigers vs. Unioto Shermans

Circleville hasn't had much luck against Unioto recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will host the Shermans at 5:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Circleville took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Bloom-Carroll, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers skirted past the Bulldogs 3-2.

Kaylee West was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Cowdery, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Unioto made easy work of Huntington on Monday and carried off a 16-6 win. Considering the Shermans have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Macie Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haylee Hull, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Welch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Unioto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive contests.
