Baseball Game Preview: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Ayala Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Claremont will face off against Ayala. The Wolfpack will face off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Claremont has won three straight at home, while Ayala won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

Claremont came up short against Ayala on Tuesday, falling 11-2.

For Ayala's part, Isaac Huver looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Huver posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jonah Boyd, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Duarte, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Ayala kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games.

Ayala has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Claremont, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11-1.
