Football Recap: Santa Clarita Christian Comes Up Short

Santa Clarita Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a blow against the Mammoth Huskies, falling 56-28. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 59-12 to the Huskies when the teams met back in October of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mammoth, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 12-point performance the contest before.

Eli Ericson was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 216 yards and four scores while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 40 yards and one TD. Those 216 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson McCall, who rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Santa Clarita Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fresno Christian at 6:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Mammoth, they will square off against Frazier Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Huskies their first taste of in-conference action this season.
