Football Recap: Osmin Barrera's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverside over Weston-Mcewen + How To Watch

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 46-33 to the Weston-McEwen TigerScots. The Pirates lost against the TigerScots in their previous head to head back in October of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 43-6 score last time.

Riverside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Osmin Barrera, who rushed for 207 yards and two scores while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 90 receiving yards. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Sergio Avalos, who rushed for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Weston-McEwen, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weston-McEwen, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-0 loss against Lost River on the 8th.
