Baseball Game Preview: William Byrd Terriers vs. Fleming Colonels

William Byrd has gone a perfect 10-0 against Fleming recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Terriers will host the Colonels at 5:30 p.m. William Byrd will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Spotswood hit William Byrd with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Terriers took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trailblazers.

JW Vaughan and Austin Kroner stepped up to the plate in a big way. Vaughan went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Kroner went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kroner is becoming a predictor of William Byrd's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cannin Lutz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fleming was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 16-2 to Staunton River.

William Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Fleming, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything went William Byrd's way against Fleming in their previous meeting back in April, as William Byrd made off with a 27-1 victory. Will the Terriers repeat their success, or do the Colonels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
