Basketball Game Preview: Grand Saline Indians vs. Bonham Warriors

The Grand Saline Indians will take on the Bonham Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Grand Saline turned things around against Arp on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 69-47 victory. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.

Grand Saline relied on the efforts of Preston Hass, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with five assists and three steals, and Kolton Prox, who went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blane Thompson, who posted eight points in addition to 11 assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bonham waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Farmers 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since November 28, 2023.

Bonham's win came from a few key players Grand Saline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jk Wilson, who had 15 points and three steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Stewart, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Bonham is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Grand Saline, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Grand Saline was able to grind out a solid victory over Bonham in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 47-34. Will Grand Saline repeat their success, or does Bonham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
