Basketball Recap: Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy Comes Up Short

Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Vassar Vulcans, falling 64-36. The Dragons were down 54-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Vassar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Long, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Long is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vassar, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy will host Hill-McCloy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vassar will take on Marlette in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Vassar has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three matchups.
