Softball Recap: Yorba Linda Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Yorba Linda barely beat Troy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 8-2 victory on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in March.

Sydney Chirco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Liliya Cartledge, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Claire Gress was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Yorba Linda pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Troy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Coincidentally, Yorba Linda and Troy will both be playing Crean Lutheran the next time they take the field. The Warriors will host the Saints at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
