Softball Recap: Atholton Takes a Loss

Atholton extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8-1 in the process. They came up short against Marriotts Ridge, falling 12-6. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 14-1 to Marriotts Ridge when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kamryn Marable and Elli Cathirell did some serious damage despite the final result: Marable went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Cathirell went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Tatiana Maltez-Rosales also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Marriotts Ridge, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Marriotts Ridge's side, Sienna Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Tasch was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Kim, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Atholton and Marriotts Ridge will both be playing Hammond the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Golden Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Marriotts Ridge will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
