Softball Game Preview: Oakridge Eagles vs. West Catholic Falcons

The Oakridge Eagles will take on the West Catholic Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Wednesday, Oakridge was able to grind out a solid win over Mona Shores, taking the game 10-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Sailors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Catholic). They put the hurt on Kenowa Hills with a sharp 20-6 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Paige Clinger was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Empie, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

West Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenowa Hills only posted an OBP of .250.

Oakridge's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for West Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
