Basketball Recap: Northeast's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Northeast needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Keundre Jackson. The Northeast Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons on Tuesday, sneaking past 51-48 thanks in part to Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Northeast's points.

Another player making a difference was Justyn Taylor, who posted ten points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Despite the loss, Academy for Classical Education still got an impressive performance from Bryson Vincent, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Balkcom, who put up nine points and six boards.

Northeast's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Academy for Classical Education, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-41 loss against Howard on the 8th. As for Academy for Classical Education, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-38 defeat against Dodge County on the 9th.
