Basketball Recap: The Franklin School of Innovation Takes a Loss

If The Franklin School of Innovation was riding high fresh off their 65-27 takedown of Shining Rock Classical Academy back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Franklin School of Innovation Thunderbolts lost to the Invest Collegiate Imagine Kingfishers on the road by a 65-47 margin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbolts in their matchups with the Kingfishers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Invest Collegiate Imagine was led to victory by Asa Gura and Tyson Elliott. Gura dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals, while Elliott went 10 for 20 en route to 25 points and five steals. Those 11 steals gave Gura a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Ordiway, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals.

The Franklin School of Innovation's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Invest Collegiate Imagine, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

The Franklin School of Innovation will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Invest Collegiate Imagine, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-33 victory against Mount Pisgah Academy on the 16th.
