Preview: Raymore-Peculiar Panthers vs. Belton Pirates
The Raymore-Peculiar Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Belton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Raymore-Peculiar comes in on three and Belton on five.
Last Tuesday, Raymore-Peculiar beat Raytown 59-52.
Meanwhile, Belton had just enough and edged Chrisman out 56-54 on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Belton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Chrisman is ranked 101st).
Belton can attribute much of their success to Kordell Williams, who scored 15 points, and Jw Johnson, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Williams hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Cooper Shrum was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three blocks.
Raymore-Peculiar pushed their record up to 9-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Belton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season.
Raymore-Peculiar came up short against Belton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 54-43. Will Raymore-Peculiar have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
