Football Game Preview: Hudson Explorers vs. Lake Blue Streaks

The Hudson Explorers will take on the Lake Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hudson's defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so Lake's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Hudson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South 27-0. The result was nothing new for the Explorers, who have now won seven games by 27 points or more so far this season.

Hudson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reno Ferri out in front who rushed for 112 yards on only 13 carries, and also caught one TD. That's the most rushing yards Ferri has posted since back in September. Hayden Lipinski was another key signal caller, throwing for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hudson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive matchups.

Hudson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Anthony Paolucci, Louie Castellarin, and Kyler Boyle, who each picked up one interception apiece.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lake and Green, and Green kept the tradition alive. The Blue Streaks fell 34-27 to the Bulldogs two weeks ago.

Hudson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.0 points over those games. As for Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
