Basketball Recap: Quinter Triumphs

If Greeley County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Quinter, they should've done a better job of containing Bryn Gillespie. The stars were shining brightly for the Quinter Bulldogs in a 56-40 victory over the Greeley County Jackrabbits on Friday thanks in part to Gillespie, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Those seven assists gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Braelyn Blackwill, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Blackwill is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Quinter's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Greeley County, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Quinter and Hill City will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another on January 7, 2025. One thing working in Quinter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Greeley County, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
