Basketball Recap: HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians vs. Temple Christian Crusaders
After a string of seven wins, the HEARTS for Jesus Christ Guardians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Temple Christian at home by a decisive 51-37 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for HEARTS for Jesus Christ in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, HEARTS for Jesus Christ still got an impressive performance from Alex Zelenka, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Zelenka hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Cottenden, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Temple Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
HEARTS for Jesus Christ will head out on the road to challenge the Comets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Temple Christian, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilead Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
