Football Recap: Elliot Caswell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Evangelical Christian over Lausanne Collegiate

Evangelical Christian had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They lost 42-17 to the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Lynx are ranked 67th).

Evangelical Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elliot Caswell, who rushed for 129 yards on only 12 carries. Caswell's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Evangelical Christian also got help from Ezra Caswell, who showed off his sure hands for 93 receiving yards.

As for Lausanne Collegiate, their win bumped their record up to 2-3. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Evangelical Christian: they've now won five in a row.

Marterius Boyd produced another solid performance rushing for 173 yards and three touchdowns. He didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made one tackle. Tj Jenkins was another key player, throwing for 187 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Evangelical Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northpoint Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they will square off against Collierville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lynx will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
