Basketball Recap: Trigg County Comes Up Short

Trigg County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mayfield Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Cardinals are ranked 71st).

Trigg County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mayfield, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trigg County will welcome Hickman County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mayfield, they will take on Ballard Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mayfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
