Powhatan won the last time they faced James River Midlothian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Indians blew past the Rapids 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Ava Harper, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan Gobble, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Powhatan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Powhatan's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for James River Midlothian, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Powhatan will square off against L.C. Bird at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Skyhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.88 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for James River Midlothian, they will head out on the road to challenge Deep Run at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
