Baseball Recap: West Wendover Wins Going Away Against Battle Mountain

West Wendover had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Battle Mountain on Monday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 12-2 win. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Markus Gonzalez and Aidien Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gonzalez struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Wendover is 9-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. At bat, Gonzalez scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Rodriguez scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danny Soriano, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Adrian Perez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

West Wendover's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Battle Mountain, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9.
