Football Recap: Menlo School Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Menlo School couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 42-6 defeat at the hands of the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging 13.67 points allowed.

Jack Freehill threw for 60 yards and one TD. Trevor Van Der Pyl was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Chuck Wynn rushed for 74 yards on only ten carries.

Caedon Afsharipour was nothing short of spectacular for St. Ignatius College Preparatory: he threw for 181 yards and five touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Afsharipour a new career-high in passer rating (164.2). Another player making a difference was Zui Shelton, who picked up 72 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Menlo School's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-6.

As of now, neither Menlo School nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
