Basketball Recap: San Dieguito Academy Comes Up Short

San Dieguito Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Sage Creek Bobcats 112-35. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1242nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 179th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sage Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayden Naccarato, who posted 13 points and seven assists. Those 13 points gave Naccarato a new career-high. Vaughn Young was another key player, putting up 16 points.

San Dieguito Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Sage Creek, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

San Dieguito Academy will take on Mission Vista at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. As for Sage Creek, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Augustine knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Sage Creek likes a good challenge.
