Basketball Recap: Western Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Western extended their road winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Laila Lwaba. The Western Warriors strolled past the Silverado Skyhawks with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 40-21 thanks in part to Lwaba, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Pace, who posted four points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Those seven assists gave her a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Silverado had strong showings from Diannah Macaldo, who had six points and six boards, and Jaida Rainey, who put up three points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Western has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Silverado, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Western wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-37 win against Sierra Vista on the 31st. Silverado has also already played their next game (against Green Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
