Baseball Game Preview: Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights vs. Paul Cuffee

The Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights will face off against Paul Cuffee at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Exeter-West Greenwich is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Exeter-West Greenwich's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against North Smithfield as they made off with an 11-0 win. The Scarlet Knights have beaten the Northmen the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Northmen has come to flipping the script.

Tyler Mediros was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Mediros was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Exeter-West Greenwich's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Paul Cuffee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to Davies Career & Tech.

Exeter-West Greenwich pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Paul Cuffee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
